Twenty-five multiple-choice questions
marked out of a total of 150 based on curriculum common to all Canadian
provinces written over 60 minutes. Rather than testing content, most of
the problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving. The
last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. Any
calculator is permitted. The contests are supervised by teachers in the
school.

Mathematical Content

Early questions require only concepts found in the curriculum common
to all provinces. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity
and insight.
Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems
test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving.

Contest Preparation

We recommend that students spend some time preparing for our contests by trying to solve problems. Many teachers make this a regular
classroom activity, and use past contest problems as part of their regularly assigned work.
