accelerating intrusion detection operations at the edge network - s( o6 C% v/ _, r. |, J- N% Z
using FPGAs. Cloud computing and network function 6 u1 F) M8 Z, N7 s
virtualization have led to a new appealing paradigm for service 7 q1 B1 w9 ~) [# l8 j
delivery and management. Unfortunately, this paradigm fails
8 V- M& w+ B' A/ W2 q. p' Q* [to correctly support IoT applications and services that seek
2 H( t8 _& V3 }# e; ?8 Q, Jbetter communication platforms. Security as a Service can also - j" O) u3 Y2 n, j
be seen as a cloud-based model that needs to be accommodated : }: @: t7 ?/ H; e; n; e( g7 B7 s
to fulfill these services requirements. Again, one of the main 1 H4 P! s& e# J: J1 ]! ], s
issues to be addressed in this context is how to improve the

remaining reliable. A potential solution is the FPGA based # Y' B; I; a2 H3 B6 |
edge computing, which is a powerful combination offering 9 H6 N0 O4 C3 [7 w! F, Y/ {
FPGA acceleration capabilities together with edge and fog
% s- L$ y) Y& E9 D* {5 }benefits. Indeed, our work focusses on devising an Intrusion * e+ ~( }* O. M2 v
Prevention architecture called FORTISEC (40SEC), that is 9 g6 ~; a. \$ N1 e
meant to operate in a completely softwarized as well as in an - z) d% m$ Z& F" @
FPGA mode. Thereby, we present suitable algorithms, design
