were an Oracle. Do your work by hand when requested by your professors and just use
7 s: ^! {& s1 b( h# C2 yMATLAB or any other tool to check your work to make sure it’s correct.
# W- w, h! E8 G8 N+ q% @7 RThe second reason is having a tool like MATLAB is priceless for generating
( f% h' f- K* G4 H. Mplots and for doing numerical methods. Instead of having to go through a tedious
$ W+ B' H( `6 n6 s* V2 e# Hprocess of plotting something by hand you can just have MATLAB generate any
( V8 N- z1 t( tnice plot you desire.
5 y3 o5 T& |# T5 X. NThirdly, the bottom line is that at some point in your career you will have to use
: n  d; e# o  c/ R2 @a computational mathematics tool. If you’re a professor doing theoretical work, at
one point or another you are going to be working on a project where analytical
3 {9 S! Z* g& q% @solutions are not possible. If you work in industry or in a national lab, chances are
% A# {" o+ e# f( j+ rthe work you’re doing can’t be done by hand and will require a numerical solution.
MATLAB is widely used in universities, in national laboratories and at private
7 K7 q; F/ |. R4 U" P6 acompanies. Knowing MATLAB will definitely be a plus on your resume.
Now a word about this particular book. This book is aimed squarely at the MATLAB
