2009年全美高中生数学建模联赛HIMCM获奖名单近日公布（http://www.comap.com/highschool/contests/himcm/2009results.html），我校精英延续了一贯的优异表现，参赛的20支队伍全部获奖，其中Outstanding Winners有2个、Meritorious Winners有10个、Honorable Mentions有8个。 HIMCM作为世界性的比赛，汇聚了全球无数精英，在今年参赛的277只队伍中，我校的同学们凭借学校打好扎实基础，整体水平遥遥领先。同时学生也通过该项赛事进一步展现和锻炼了自身在数学、英语、计算机、自然科学、社会经济等诸多方面的综合能力，为将来的发展奠定了坚实的基础。 获奖名单如下：（指导教师：潘利群、孙越）

附： 全美高中生数学建模联赛（HiMCM）是美国数学协会主办的、全球具有广泛影响力的数学建模竞赛，每年都有全球超过千名中学生参加比赛。这项比赛主要是考察学生的数学建模、计算机编程和英语论文的撰写能力。我校连年派队参加并连续取得优异成绩。2009年的HiMCM从11月6日开始至11月23日结束，我校派出了以高一，高二学生为主的20支优秀队伍参加。 竞赛时四名学生组成一队，从三道题（其中一道为交叉学科竞赛题目）中选择一题在连续的36小时内完成一篇研究论文，学生可以自由地收集各种软件和材料，赛题没有事先确定的答案，要求用英语完成论文。论文评阅标准是，假设的合理性、建模的创造性、结果的正确性和表述的清晰程度。比赛时间一般为11月第一个星期五开始。比赛优胜者设置National Outstanding Winners、Regional Outstanding Winners、Meritorious Winners、Honorable Mentions、Successful Participants五个奖项。
2009High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM) Problem A: Water, Water Everywhere Fresh water is the limiting constraint for development in much of the United States. Devise an effective, feasible, and cost-efficient national water strategy for 2010 to meet the projected needs of the United States in 2025. In particular, address storage and movement, de-salinization, and conservation as some of the possible components of your strategy. Consider economic, physical, cultural, and environmental effects. Provide a position ** for the United States Congress outlining your approach, its costs, and why it is the best choice for the nation.
Problem B: Tsunami ("Wipe Out!") Recent events have reminded us about the devastating effects of distant or underwater earthquakes. Build a model that compares the devastation of various-sized earthquakes and their resulting Tsunamis on the following cities: San Francisco, CA; Hilo, HI; New Orleans, LA; Charleston, SC; New York, NY; Boston, MA; and any city of your choice. Prepare an article for the local news** that explains what you discovered in your model about one of these cities. ![]()
