So it comes to a question, that is, what is the dominating factor for a person to be successful? Obviously, to work hard, as one of the methods, appears in our mind first, for hard working equals to genuineness, faith, strong will and good habits. As our elder generation regarded, whether a person is diligent usually plays an important role in whether he or she can become successful. Although with talent, hard work appears to be essential in one's life journey. "Genius consists of one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration," said Thomas Edison, one of the most influential inventors in the world. In his words, it is not difficult to find his emphasis on hard work, which is also the key for him to be successful. However, on the contrary, just after the former sentence, Edison put forward another significant principle. Briefly, the reason why hardworking is turning less popular may be summarized into two aspects. Firstly, in addition to hard work, many other factors seem to be more crucial such as talent, method, good luck, opportunity and family background and so on. What's more, more and more examples which seemingly propose a negative value orientation. As a result, young people in college and the graduates are inclined to search a shortcut for success, through which they may earn a lot of money and become famous quickly. But anyway, we have to find a balance between them, or an answer to the question. It reminds us of the school motto of Tianjin University, "to seek truth from facts." Actually, just like what Thomas Edison said, an able man is equipped with not only talent, but also character of industriousness. No one is able to get achievements without hard work and persistence. Fundamentally, it is said that diligence and hardworking are also gifts for a person. Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen. No matter how attractive other elements are, we must keep our determination, then make enough and high-efficiency efforts.
