) v! X& o ~7 y1 o0 OIn this paper, quantitatively analyses the four factors, namely, population, food, freshwater resources and energy. We use trend forecasting method, and therefore work out the predicted value by 2030. This article mainly bases on the data of World Bank, FAO and other authoritative datas. We work out the model using linear regression and nonlinear regression using Spss, and then, test the the correctness and feasibility of the model and parameters by t-test, f-test, as well as residual maps.
2 ?6 w O7 L1 @1 VThis article establishes a population model, a world energy consumption model, a food production index model, a average thermal energy per person per day model, a food supply model, a population and freshwater resources model. The first four model is based on time series analysis .And the food supply model is based on the first two and the forth one , while the sixth one is on the basic of the first one and the worldwide water consumption. In the sixth one, we can predict every value of the year given, so with the Swedish hydrologist Malin Falkenmark's “Water-Stress index",we could determine the state of the world: water rich, water stress, water shortage, severe water shortage. % t8 x: G/ ^' X& \: F0 d) w
Based on our six models, we work out the following findings. By the year of 2030, world population will reach 8.4 billion; our demand for energy will increase 29%; food production index will raise 32.68 percent;the total thermal energy equirement will increase 45.01%, that is to say, the demand for food will increase 45.01%; the food supply index will be 0.7261, that is, food will be short of supply; the water consumption per person will be 547 and the world will be in the shortage of freshwater. If the population, energy, food, freshwater and the interaction of four factors working together, our world will probably be involved in the "perfect storm" by 2003.
* ~5 B( z9 [; y/ _% FIn order to prevent the "perfect Storm", we advise as follows. Firstly, we should control the population, and improve the quality of people. Secondly, we should increase production per acre, and eat more plant products and less meat. Thirdly, we should plan energy consuming, and develop new energy resources. Forthly, we should prevent water from polluting and develop the desalination technology. What’s more, we should protect environment and promote sustainable economic development. |
